Packaging specifications for bagged plastic pellets including PP, PE, ABS and other variants at chemical manufacturers are formulated based on material properties, transportation requirements and industry practices. Listed below are prevailing standard specifications:

1. Standard Packaging Specifications

Net Weight

  • Small-sized bags: 10kg, 15kg, 20kg (mainly for lab test samples and small-batch procurement)
  • Conventional bags: 25kg (the most widely adopted global standard specification)
  • Bulk jumbo bags: 500kg, 800kg, 1000kg (FIBC bulk bags for bulk cargo shipment)

Packaging Materials

  • Outer layer: PE woven bags (moisture-proof and tear-resistant) or kraft paper composite bags (for eco-friendly compliance demands)
  • Inner layer: Clear PE liner bags for hermetic moisture sealing; vacuum packaging or nitrogen blanketing is applied for premium-grade materials upon strict requirements.

Bag Dimensions

  • 25kg sacks: approx. 90cm × 50cm, designed for manual handling convenience
  • FIBC bulk bags: approx. 90cm × 90cm × 100cm with a volumetric capacity of 1.0–1.5 cubic meters

2. Custom Special Specifications

Industry-Specific Variations

  • Food & medical-grade plastics: Packaged under aseptic conditions with QS or FDA certification markings printed on packaging.
  • Engineering plastics (PC, Nylon, etc.): Optionally packed with aluminium foil bags or anti-static packaging materials.

Regional Customary Standards

  • Europe: Dominantly 25kg per bag
  • Parts of Asia (e.g. India): 25kg or 50kg per bag in common use
  • North America: Many manufacturers adopt 50lb (≈22.7kg) packaging format

3. Mandatory Markings on Outer Packaging

All outer sacks are printed with the following information as standard:
  1. Resin grade and designation (e.g. LDPE, HIPS)
  2. Production batch number, manufacture date and shelf life (for materials susceptible to shelf-life deterioration)
  3. Net weight, manufacturer’s full name and contact details
  4. Handling symbols including moisture-proof, fire precaution and upright orientation arrows

4. Key Precautions

  • Moisture control: Hydroscopic resins such as PET and Nylon require strict moisture prevention, with desiccants inserted inside packaging bags.
  • Eco-friendly transition: An increasing number of manufacturers switch to recyclable or biodegradable packaging (e.g. bio-based PE sacks).
Remarks: Final packaging specs shall be confirmed with raw material suppliers according to specific resin grades, as dimensional and weight standards vary from producer to producer.
